Dawa & SalinaIndia

The 12 Days of Christmas represent feast days for various saints. For example, December 26th is known as St. Stephen’s Day in honor of the first Christian martyr.

Dawa, age 39, is from Sikkim, India. During his initial days of ministry, he faced a lot of disappointment. His mentor/leader said, “All God’s servants must be blameless and without any deformities.” But Dawa’s left ear has been deformed since he was born. So, Dawa felt very hurt. He believed what the leader said. Plus, Dawa’s ministry was not going well, so he felt very discouraged.

One day, he came across a video of Nick Vujicic, an Australian-American Christian who was born without arms or legs. Dawa saw how Nick had such a successful ministry and was very encouraged to see that God can use anybody.

Dawa and his wife, Salina, have planted a church in Sikkim, in the foothills of the Himalayas, where there used to be no Christian presence. Invited by Lok, Dawa and Salina attended Kingdom Rain’s training in Siliguri. Lok sees them as a gateway couple to Sikkim, and he plans to team up with them to do training in Nepal since they’re Nepali. Now, after applying the principles from all five phases of training, Dawa and Salina have many lay leaders in Sikkim who know how to preach the gospel and make disciples.

Pray that the seven families in Dawa’s church will continue to make disciples and pass on the training. Pray for Dawa and Salina as they balance ministry demands and parenting four children.
