ParvizBangladesh

The modern-day version of “The 12 Days of Christmas” song is credited to an English composer named Frederic Austin, who set the melody and lyrics in 1909.

Parviz is a Hindu-background believer (HBB) who lives in northern Bangladesh with his wife and three sons. He is part of the Musahar people group. As a boy, he was the youngest of seven children in his family, and three of his brothers became followers of Christ. At age 12, Parviz put his faith in Jesus. His family experienced pressure from their relatives and community to return to Hinduism. For example, they could no longer get water from the village well, and Parviz could no longer play with his friends. When he got older, he couldn’t find a job because of his Christian faith, and he had to break bricks and sell them, which was very difficult labor.

Parviz learned to find strength in God by praying and reading his Bible regularly. He eventually got involved in youth camps and leadership programs, and he felt God calling him into ministry.

Parviz met Lok, and after going through Phase 1 of our training, he immediately began to do outreach. As a result, more than 40 Hindu-background people have become believers. Parviz said that our training has helped him with preaching, training others, and reaching out to other people groups. He now leads six churches that consist of various tribal groups.

Pray for Parviz’s impoverished Musahar community to come to Christ and be transformed. Pray for God’s protection and favor as he does outreach and for provision of a church building.
