The 12 Days of Christmas are also known as Twelvetide. In the Middle Ages, monks would celebrate a different saint each day. During Twelvetide, unlike the 25 days preceding Christmas, monks were not required to fast. The exception was that they had to fast and pray for the first three days of the year, to refrain from the idolatrous practices associated with new year celebrations.
Piyush and his wife, Juanita, are both involved in the missions department of Vishwa Vani, an indigenous church-planting movement in 29 states of India. Piyush, the National Missions Coordinator, oversees all of Vishwa Vani’s 4,500 missionaries throughout India. He and Juanita collect reports from missionaries and send them to their sponsors, run missionary programs, and travel from their base in Chennai to different states to encourage missionaries.
Piyush uses the Kingdom Rain training to help train new missionaries. He shares, “This curriculum helps us accomplish the vision of reaching the unreached villages of India. It teaches us how to multiply and make disciples with a process that can be repeated over and over. This material is simpler, more practical, and easier to follow than other material.” Highlights from 2024 include training and commissioning 40 new missionaries for the state of Odisha and seeing 5,000 people baptized.
Pray that God will keep raising up Vishwa Vani workers to go to India’s unreached villages.
